Liszt Liebestraum how to play well?
on: October 24, 2008, 01:17:56 PM
Hi all,

I am learning the Franz Liszt Liebestraum. I can play quite well and I can play quite fluent and accurate in this music. However, I always get mess up with cadenza. I try to slow practice, and practice the particular cadenza. When I play for someone, I get mess up with it. Do you have any method to keep under control and play it so smooth and cascading down gracefully thank you

I think you may have to resign yourself to the fact that this particular piece takes time to settle. You're doing everything right but you probably need more time. Good luck and keep at it.

Pieces with alot of jumping take time to get used to as with la campanella for example. So no worries, it will come.

just relax, and be patient. You will get it eventually. Some pieces just take more time to get down perfectly. This is one of them.

I agree with all of you with this beautiful piece. Just make sure you have a good fingering for those broken thirds----and be consistant every time. Practice it in different rhythms and touches---also record yourself---alot. It is amazing what we thing we hear till we hear it back. Good luck!!

all good advice here, as with all pieces and more so in higher level pieces, it takes time. Keep at it. The parts you have more difficulty in, slow them down! its easier to spot mistakes that way, and  easier to correct them. Just keep all the notes even, and take note of all the changes in tempo, velocity etc etc. You'll do just fine.

Good luck
