Fantasy On The Last Rose Of by Mendelson

I just heard a recording of this piece and I really liked, but i have not heard much about it before, have any of you played it, and if you have is it hard, easy etc..

I have played through it once. It's (technically) much easier than most of the virtuoso transcriptions. But I think it's still charming if played well. There's a recent CD by Anthony Goldstone "A Night at the Opera" which contains a recording. It got good reviews but I haven't heard it so far.

There are also other works based on this melody, but the Mendelssohn is the easiest technically. Someone shared (thanks, btw) a variation set in the "Herz Appreciation Thread" of the Sheet Music Requests here. You can also find several other arrangements at pianophilia in the thread on transcriptions for 2 hands.
