While that is the case, "useful" posts depend on the opinions of the people who view it and could be easily abused.

EXCUSE ME, but isn't it a violation of privacy to expose emails?

Under profile there is the email address. Isn't it an option to have it hidden?

Why am I now unable to hide my personal e-mail address??

It should be visible on the account settings page. This page can only be viewed by yourself when you are logged in so it's not a problem.

I got confused on the email display part too.  It's in italics and that meant only you could see it.  Then Nils put another "(hidden)" note next to it and that's still there on my screen.  I don't think anyone can see a profile now unless they're a registered member either.

Btw Nilsjohan, you could consider letting the reputation system only count for the piano forums (so ignoring the 'everything but piano' forum), since people their opinions on a non-piano topic shouldnt influence their credibility about piano topics. At least, thats my opinion ;) . That probably also limits the amount of abuse the little kids (and little adults) under us might do.

That's good, logical idea. People disagree with other's opinions on the "Anything But Piano" boards...so that would make sense to limit it to the Piano baords.

If you want to abuse someone, it is not a complicated matter to go to there profile, find a recent post, and defame it. This is one of the issues with rep systems.

We're not here to encourage abuse. We're here to observe and stop abuse that may occur using this feature.

Do you expect to?

It is very unlikely. Those members who voice their opinions will constantly be rated negative. And if members hate you (lucy), they will deliberately lower your rating when possible.

So, no...I do not expect to reach 1 or higher.

Yeah, we can all go: "maybe you could do this..." or that, but Nils only downloaded a feature that comes with SMF forums! He wouldn't be able to do that unless SMF has updated.

I suppose that all the minuses you get may have outweighed it somewhat?

I have more than one negative. LOL

I wish Nils could fix it so the user themselves can only see their exact reputation. I don't know if that is possible.

Another thing; it asks "Did you find this post useful?", but if you say yes/no, the points go to the user who posted it.

So if two different people made the same post, it would make a difference?
If one person makes a useful post, and then a stupid post, they cancel eachother out?

What can I possibly write in the "Anything But Piano" board that is "useful"? It's my opinion on things! Everyone voices their opinions about non-musical things on that board.

Basically: yes. I'll be happy when I sign on here one day and discover I have a "1".
