It IS the greatest because we have had freedom the LONGEST.  People can complain about being free until they are forced to work for someone else at low wages with no hope of going to college or making a life for themselves (due to slavery).

Do you know there is a book recently out by a woman who was forced to be a prostitute during the pol pot regime.  I forget the name of the book - i think it was 'lost innocence.'  She said that what she survived was nothing COMPARED TO TODAY!  She said women have had rods stuck through their heads.  Torture in our country (to terrorists) is wrong - but torture to your own people?  For FORCED SERVICE?  This also happens in other places of the world - but so many women and men do not survive that it is sometimes just considered another part of communism gone really really bad.

Even if prostitution is legalized in Las Vegas - which is a compromise of what 'freedom' means in the truest sense of the word since prostitution is slavery - there will probably be laws to protect the prostitutes.  That doesn't happen in other countries.  That is because under our law - even if you are in the 'wrong' - you are considered right until proven in a court of law to have done something legally wrong.

However, the supreme court has lately left all the decision making to the states.  It's really funny because the supreme court is MOSTLY CATHOLIC.  That is the reason. Why don't they change some of the judges so it isn't?  Why don't they come together and agree - as world churches do - that legalized prostitution is, was, and always throughout time - the first thing to cause a society to fall.

Besides losing the foundation of what the constitution stands for - which is upholding law based upon the idea that freedom is given by obeying the law in the manner in which it was intended.  Not 21st century idiocy.

PS Here's what the UN does about prostitution in Cambodia:  https://books.google.com/books?id=3Yfqi4y8lBsC&pg=PA117&lpg=PA117&dq=khmer+rouge+and+prostitution&source=web&ots=Viq8bLh3j2&sig=t_o6ziOWewyYFTcIjY_b0aYVFSE&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=1&ct=result#PPA118,M1

How long is that, then? Not very, if you're Red Indian or African American.

Hasn't Iceland had freedom longer than any other distinguishable nation?

Although England is not really the Greatest country in the world, I would put it way above USA the list.

I feel a bit ill saying it but, I actually agree with you. I think England is a better country with better occupants than America (just).

I'd say in recent years the U.S has provided opportunity for many who seek and desire a better way of living. England is now the most cosmopolitan nation state in Europe. Russia has a very tragic history ( politically ) culturally it has provided the finest artists, thinkers and sports people.

No, Scotland has it's faults. I'm not saying it is "the Greatest Country". I don't think there is a specific country that is better than all the others. Everywhere has it's faults, America just emphasises theirs.

Assuming that the people that said that used the same capital letters as you used, it would ignite sarcasm in my opinion.

Nothing wrong with being blessed and the rest is just opinion.  Others may have a different opinion and think their country is the greatest in the world.  Does it really matter?  We Americans are proud of our Country, our freedoms and our military might.  Life is pretty good here and we enjoy many opportunities that others do not have.

It makes me mad because they have the nerve to say that to other nations. "We are better than you and we know it", annoys me no end. Most Australians do not say that our country is the best but I would rather live here than the US. It is saddening to see that Australia is essentially becoming a satellite of the US though. What is England/Scotland/France like anyway? Politically and judging by the people?

Prostitution is not anywhere close to slavery. A prostitute provides a service, for a fee, much as any other tradesman (which is more than you can say for most women). By your logic, a contractor is a slave, as is anyone who works for a wage.

Delusion, or out and out lie. Perhaps a combination of both.

I see nothing wrong with politician, leader, and private citizen saying God Bless (insert your favorite country).  As for the "Greatest Country in The World" well I suppose I do not really care either way.  I mean if one of Mexico's leaders said "Greatest Country in The World" I would probably laugh.  I am not interested in opening the immigration debate, but there is a reason why millions have come to the US.

I have truly discovered that I'm much happier avoiding 'Anything but piano' on this forum.  The signal to noise ratio is beyond bearing, especially with the utter and continual idiocy of pianistimo's posts.  I just can't believe it... or that anyone else takes this crap seriously.

Whatever, I will never, EVER respond in the future to anything this individual posts.  pianistimo is everything that is wrong with mankind, and probably this stupid zombie doesn't know sh*t about piano music anyway.

Certainly won't take me on... I shake in my boots...

I agree that her 'anything but piano' posts are utter idiocy, and that her type of radical mind is what causes alot of unpleasant things in this world, but most of her posts about piano music are actually pretty decent.

Pleasant or unpleasant to believe anything I think anyone has to be off their rocker.  Reason and reason ability are the two most unreasonable things to expect from anyone.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
