It IS the greatest because we have had freedom the LONGEST. People can complain about being free until they are forced to work for someone else at low wages with no hope of going to college or making a life for themselves (due to slavery).
Do you know there is a book recently out by a woman who was forced to be a prostitute during the pol pot regime. I forget the name of the book - i think it was 'lost innocence.' She said that what she survived was nothing COMPARED TO TODAY! She said women have had rods stuck through their heads. Torture in our country (to terrorists) is wrong - but torture to your own people? For FORCED SERVICE? This also happens in other places of the world - but so many women and men do not survive that it is sometimes just considered another part of communism gone really really bad.
Even if prostitution is legalized in Las Vegas - which is a compromise of what 'freedom' means in the truest sense of the word since prostitution is slavery - there will probably be laws to protect the prostitutes. That doesn't happen in other countries. That is because under our law - even if you are in the 'wrong' - you are considered right until proven in a court of law to have done something legally wrong.
However, the supreme court has lately left all the decision making to the states. It's really funny because the supreme court is MOSTLY CATHOLIC. That is the reason. Why don't they change some of the judges so it isn't? Why don't they come together and agree - as world churches do - that legalized prostitution is, was, and always throughout time - the first thing to cause a society to fall.
Besides losing the foundation of what the constitution stands for - which is upholding law based upon the idea that freedom is given by obeying the law in the manner in which it was intended. Not 21st century idiocy.
PS Here's what the UN does about prostitution in Cambodia:
