Problem with cricketts
on: November 11, 2008, 04:59:15 PM
There is a cricket living somewhere in my bathroom chirping the night away every night. The chirping is driving me absolutley batty. I cant find him anywhere, anytime I look for him he goes quite. I really dont want to kill him, I would prefer to catch him and release him. So no poison.

Somebody suggested I get a lizard.

 Anyideas?

Play Schumann, that will soon get rid of it.

Guaranteed.

Play Sorabji; what would that do?

Or play Finnissy...

Or even play yours truly.

Go on, Thal; answer those - you know you want to (or even if not, you may be unable to help yourself from doing so)...

Best,

Alistair

P.S. I'd wring their necks with banjo strings meself (that's if I had any)...

When i was on holiday recently, the racket made by these little buggers was incredible. The only evening they shut up was when someone lit a bonfire. Perhaps this would not be a good idea if you have one in your bathroom, but at least you would have lots of water handy to put it out.

Playing Sorabji/Finissy would actually make a noise worse than the cricket could ever generate itself, so i don't think that would be a good idea.

Playing Hinton would get rid of it, but then you would have the Noise Abatement Officers knocking on your door.

Hope this helps.

I think you should invite Thalbergmad into your house, that will definitely scare the crickets away. Be on your guard though...

We had crickets all over my yard, until my kids got ducks for pets.

Those things are predators!  Maybe you could borrow a duck.

Nice thing was they were toilet trained, sort of.  They would only leave their waste in water, so we kept a wading pool for them, and didn't have to step on any nasties in the yard.  Not like geese!  So fill your bathtub, and go to it.

I'm for the duck idea. Not only do they get rid of crickets apparently, but they also eat free at Subway.

I put iodine in my axolotl's tank and turned it into a salamander. Apparently they can eat them :P

As a last resort you could always just burn the house. Just burn the dam place, walk away and never look back. You know that cricket deserved it...

I say we lift off and nuke the place from orbit.  It's the only way to be sure.

Yes... Sometimes I feel like doing that. Burning down the house in a insomiac rage.

Im actually getting used to them. The real problem is im inviting a girl over and I dont think the crikets would go well with her...

I think im just going to open all the windows at night and try to freeze them. Even though I will be miserable for a few nights I think its worth a try.
