Cleaning up expired members...
on: November 15, 2008, 07:27:12 PM
This forum is meant to have thousands of members, correct? And yet there is probably only about 2000 (if that) who are active members on a regular basis. Wouldn't it be easier to clean up old members? Like e-mail sites and other forums do...they remove members that haven't signed on after a certain period of time.

Perhaps...a year? Surely that would tidy the site up a bit...any thoughts on that?

It's a thought...would be very difficult to do and has about as much chance of being done as this forum does of being indexed lol

I know. I'm not saying "Do it straight away. Do it within a week!"...over a period of time...so eventually the site is more organised. Everyone would then benefit from it.

I cannot even remotely imagine how anyone would benefit from this.

Not from the cleaning up old members thing...just the site being more organised. You could find things easier and...um...be organised.  :-\

That was another thing. Never mind, you obviously don't understand...whether its my explanation or not...

The site would also be more organised if the members who sign on and then leave and don't return after a period of time were removed altogether.

What would be the benefit in removing dormant members?

How would it make the site more organised?

It matters not to me if there are 10 dormant members or 10 million. It makes no difference.

Keep in mind that CC [Chang] stopped posting for ~2 years, and just a few days ago returned.

Also it won't happen, nobody ever undertakes these kinds of projects, there simply is no benefit. Although it is commendable to ask.
