My current plan over the next year for pieces to learn
on: November 17, 2008, 12:32:07 AM
I'm wanting to see what you guys here think. I just finished [as in I know the notes, it still needs polishing] Chopin's Waltz in Am, Opus 34 2 and am working on Clair De Lune by Debussy.
In a year and a half or so though, I'm going to be auditioning for colleges for piano performance. So I need to add some to my repetoire.
My current plan for pieces to learn is going as follows:
Bach Sinfonia 3 in D
Mozart Sonata K283 in G 2nd movement [Those two pieces will be first for my scholarship auditions this january at my current school, I'm starting on those ASAP]
After those two I'm gonna begin the rest of K283, and start on Bach's Prelude and Fugue 4 in c#m
After those are finished I plan to start on Either Chopin's Etude 10/6 or 10/9, still not sure.
And I may find another romantic piece or impressionist piece for auditions, but I may just stick with Clair De Lune since I play it so far pretty darn well. But I'd be open to any suggestions that could easily go on top of these pieces.
Does this plan look like a good, fairly logical order to move in towards my end goald of the Chopin Etudes? I'm going to discuss this tomorrow with my teacher of course, but I wanted to get as much advice as possible.
My audition pieces in January are going to either be Clair De Lune, Sinfonia 3, and the mozart movement, or my Chopin waltz instead of Clair De Lune. We'll see.
My current plans for auditions next year for colleges are these pieces:
Bach Prelude & Fugue 4 in c#m, all of Mozart's K283, Clair De Lune, and one of those two mentioned Chopin Etudes. Will that make a good undergrad level audition? Should I find a more difficult piece than Clair De Lune?
Also to help improve my technique quickly, I want to start Czerny school of velocity and dexterity. So, what do you guys think?
