Most Difficult Bach Work
on: December 04, 2008, 10:48:28 PM
What is the most difficult/challenging work by J.S. Bach for SOLO PIANO? The work can be anything from a suite/partita, to the Well Tempered Klavier, to the Goldberg Variations. What is the overall most challenging piece? Please discuss it and explain why you believe it to be the most difficult piece.

1. The Art Of Fugue with Tovey's completion of the final fugue.
2. Sorabji's transcription of the Chromatic Fantasia and the replacement fugue he transcribed to follow it. I am working on this-very slowly-and it is very, very hard.

nothing since Bach didn't write for piano!
Question - Why do you need to know? of what purpose wll it serve?

Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.

French Overture, CF&F and some of the large Toccatas.
Or, play something better and explore the Handel Keyboard Suites.
