Yes, a fine composer indeed. I hadn't looked up his dates ever, so I'm rather shocked to see how young he was when he died.

thanks for the correction pianowolfi. i dunno what i was thinking when i typed the date. lol. yes, he lived a long life. he recorded his complete piano music in 1974 ( comes in 4 cds). you are right, wolfi, the cds are truly extraordinary! what a musician and pianist.

i was thinking of giving all mompou recital next year. a recital that comprises scenes d'enfants, fetes lointaines, chants magics, paisajes and all preludes. but some people have told me that it is risky i.e not getting enough reservations for the concert coz the name mompou is not widely known.

maybe i should still do it for the sake of my total love of his works. my conviction is that mompou was a first class composer on par with debussy and ravel.

mompou's music is most calm, sonorous, and nostalgic: never monumental coz his is most intimate, not cathedral-like, yet it's priceless gems! his music makes the best sample of "less is more"-it is FULL of inspired musical ideas and is written in a most economical way. never lacking of anything, his music shines with freshness and transcendental sound festivities. he deserves more recognition! tds

Do you know where I can find the partiture of Chanson Berceuse?
