Barenboim in Met recital
on: December 16, 2008, 04:09:44 PM
First pianist since Horowitz to play there.

Here's the NY Times Review.  (The reviewer loves everybody, so take this at face value.)

Current repertoire:  "Come to Jesus" (in whole-notes)

He didn't love everyone in Boston, that's for sure; he savaged several artists. One headline read ".......'s talent doesn't match her ambitions". And that was the nice part. He also reviewed an original musical, of which I was the musical director. Fortunately he complimented the stage director and I, saying we had "done skillful work" before lecturing the composer/lyricist and playwright on his shortcomings.

Perhaps being the Chief Scribe of NYC has made him indulgent. Or maybe the recital was very good.
