on: December 22, 2008, 06:17:37 PM
Help me choose to win a competition:

(They're all one-mvmt. pieces)
Strauss- Burlesque
Liszt- A major concerto
Ravel - LH concerto
Weber - Konzertstucke
Mozart- K. 459 F major
Chopin - Krakowiak

Ah, heck, do the Strauss.  Not done THAT often, but are you up to it?  Even Argerich breaks a sweat in this one.

My choice would be the Weber, i simply love it.

Not sure if it is a competition winner.

Same here, but I hear it's VERY tricky . . .

Good suggestions. I must ask: why is Krakowiak not recommended? Is it not "showy" enough? Is it not difficult enough? Has anyone here played it?

I feel it is one of Chopins weaker pieces.
