Chopin and Beethoven - good companions in concert?
on: December 23, 2008, 05:48:12 AM

Hi guys, i just want your opinion on this. There's a talent show coming up and I'd like to play 2 pieces for a total length of about 10 min.

Do you think Chopin Etude 10 no 1 and Beethoven Moonlight's 3rd movement would go well together ? one thing that bugs me is that they are both very fast. Perhaps having a "relaxed" tempo piece with either of these two is more convenient?

Cheers

they beethovens a good one but i'd do a more lyrical piece of chopin to set up for the beethoven such as op.10 no.3 for example.

Actually, after reading your comment I played both of them at once, having both of them saved on my computer in MIDI and mp3 format. They actually, in most parts, compliment each other quite nicely.

What I mean is if they are played at the same time, and sound good, then apart they should do fine.

Why would you want to play the third movement only?!  If you want something fast and brilliant, do the rondò!

Maybe do the second as well as the third movement.  That would make it flow a little better personally.
