Bugatti Veyron Special Editions: Which is the best?
on: December 29, 2008, 04:53:35 AM
Bugatti has made 3 special edition veyrons that I am aware of.

1. Pur Sang
2.  Fbg Hermes
3.  Sang Noir

How do you rank them?  If you could have any one of the three, which would you choose and why?

I rank them in the order that you've put them, purely on appearance. I'm not much of a car person so I have no idea what cool things they do. They have 4 wheels, look cool, and work - that's enough for me.

Based on name, I want the noir...just because I love that word.

Good to see you 'round thalberg, we haven't heard from you in a while.

Thanks :)  Yeah, I took 5 classes last semester and also started a piano studio.  I had no social life, no time for fun.  I missed my pianostreet friends.  But now I'm back.

I've just been on their web-site and looked at all the pics.

My order is:

1. Sang Noir
2. Pur Sang
3. Fbg Hermes

The "Sang Noir" just looks more menacing, but if you're giving one away, i'll take any, sell it, buy a GT40 and a large House.

Order: 1, 2, 3.

1 is the least revoulting, and 3 is the most (because of the bright, orange interior). However, 1 would be a nicer car if it wasn't as shiny.

Where's James Bond?

Say...in this economy you might want to cover it with a brown bag.  A car like that simply announces 'give me a ticket.'  I'm more agreed with Shorty on buying a house.  They appreciate while a car deteriorates.  You can't wreck a house either.  Well, you could, i suppose.  But, take the idea that you buy the car - drive it out the parking lot and a streetsweeper takes the front end off at the next stop light as you are sitting there admiring the interior.

That depends where you live.

James Bond is in his Aston Martin. Would not be seen in that Italian lunchbox.

I'm glad so many people like the noir.  I like that one a lot and would be happy to have it.

The upside to the pur sang is that it is 100kg lighter than any other, and it is also the most rare since there are only 5 pur sangs and 15 of the other two.

The upside to the hermes is that it is designed by a saddle maker so it's all top quality leather--the steering wheel alone takes 30 hours of hand stitch work.

The noir's benefits are mainly its looks, which are better than a "plain" bugatti, although not everyone would agree with that since "plain" bugattis are pretty stunning.

I like the shape of the first, not so much the colour.

The Fbg Hermes looks nice.  I saw a figure of $1,500,000 for one of them. :P
It would need to have a really nice sound system for me to pay that much. ;D

The Fbg hermes costs an extra $700,000 on top of the 1.5 million base car.  I guess this is because Hermes is a saddle maker (not sure) and they spend a month hand stitching premium leather to every surface in the car.  The steering wheel alone takes 30 hours.

Funny how one person on this earth has an extra 700k to spend on something as insignificant as upgrading the leather in an exotic car, and many of us will never see a sum like that in our lifetime.

When Practice Stagnates – Breaking the Performance Ceiling: Robotic Training for Pianists

“Practice makes perfect” is a common mantra for any pianist, but we all know it’s an oversimplification. While practice often leads to improvement, true perfection is elusive. But according to recent research, a robotic exoskeleton hand could help pianists improve their speed of performing difficult pianistic patterns, by overcoming the well-known “ceiling effect”.
