Need help finding a slow sonata movement
on: December 30, 2008, 09:38:41 AM
You probably get a lot of these kind of threads here, but I really need some help, I hope I'm not annoying anyone...

I need to play a slow movement from a classical era sonata for an audition. I would be very grateful if you guys/gals could recomend me some, because I'm having a hard time finding a suiting one.

Other things I'll be playing for the audition:

Beethoven - Sonata in F sharp Major, no.24 op.78, movement 1
Rachmaninoff - Prelude in G minor, op.23 no.5
J.S. Bach - Prelude & Fugue in Eb Major, WTC 2

The slow sonata movement should preferably be a bit below the first two of these when it comes to technical difficulty, but don't hold anything back, the more I have to chose from, the better!

why not the 2nd mvt of your Beethoven Sonata? people commonly play a whole sonata for auditions in fact or 2 movements sometimes if it is a Beethoven/Mozart sonata
J.S Bach Italian Concerto,Beethoven Sonata op.2 no.2,Mozart Sonatas K.330&333,Chopin Scherzo no.2,Etude op.10 no.12&Fantasie Impromptu

The second movement of Beethoven op. 10 no 3 is beautiful (my favorite at the moment). Other than that, I agree with me movements kitty on the keys suggested.

I may be wrong, but I don't think that sonata has a slow movement.
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

Thank you very much for your help, I especially find the Mozart k332 to be strikingly beautiful. Any more recomendations are also very welcome so I can have many choises. Also, don't be afraid to recomend harder pieces too.  ;)

Again, thank you!

And Happy New Year!
