These are cool. I've also been looking for years for some Sonatas from a guy called "Mozart" or "Notarzt" or something. Anyone have heard of that man?

I think No. 2 is on https://www.rowy.net/enFullPf5.html but does not mention "Mozart" or "Notarzt"

Which certainly proves that Beethoven at 13 was no Mendelssohn.  But what a distance between those early sonatas and the Op. 2 set!

This makes no sense. For a set of sonatas written by a child they are mature, intelligent and sophisticated.

11, according to the scores. Not bad for 11. OK, so there's no very original voice there and Mendelssohn and Korngold (for instance) may have been more distinctive at that age but hey, what were you doing at 11?

That was essentially my point, though it seems to have been lost on jabbz...

hi, there!
those sonatas are somewhat interesting, but seems to me clearly as a mix of mozart and cpe bach by-product, that suffers very much when compared to both masters original production (or ludwig's mature production).
of course, if evaluating is not an issue, it's nice music, particularly the f minor one.
best!

well i assumed it was 13 because it says he was born in 1770 and this was written in 1783. maybe im just bad at math.

and i agree about the f minor sonata, its very distinct in my eyes, not so much the other 2, but the f minor should definitely ahve been his first sonata in a 33 sonata set.

hi, there!
about the date of composition, my best sources about beethoven are the grove (of course) and barry cooper's book. both say the same: ?1783. nevertheless, if there was any discovery about that in the last five years, i'd be not aware.
best!
