Hi all,

Christmas holiday, it supposes to be joy and fun. I went to holiday in a farm. I haven't practised for whole entire week. When I came back home, I couldn't wait to open my piano and started to play some music. I felt very strange to touch the keys and my memorization wasn't good. The music I have been practising for 15 months. I couldn't play them without slipping memory. Of course, after practising again for 2 hours and next day. I can re-call everything again. However, if I ever go to holiday without practising, it will be very difficult. It makes me don't want to leave my piano ever again.

During my holiday, we went to restaurant for lunch and  there was piano there. I was very attempted to play, but there were lots of people and noisy place. I didn't want to show off.

Surely, pianists should deserve a holiday, but how do you cope with without the instrument with you all the time. Piano is big thing. Even though, to carry my midi control is almost impossible.  I always practise my piano 3 to 4 hours a day since holiday I am very lazy plus all the kids are home very disturbing. If I don't practise for 2 days, I can feel different in my playing and my memorization. I find that if I don't keep it up, it is so easy to go backward. Can anyone suggest what do you do if you go for long holiday and have to work not being able to access to piano. Can you still remember the music without practising for a while? Is there any alternative to remember the score ?

I used to have a teacher, she told me if you eat, you must play the piano. It becomes a part of you surviving food.

It's always like that. One goes to holiday, and doesn't play as well as before the holiday. But you'll see that it will get better. Practice one hand each, and slow, like if you re-lean the piece. YOu'll notice that it will get even better than before, so it's really nothing to worry about :)

do you know what? I barely even practiced this holiday... just because of the reason that I haven't had a break like this for years. Before this, every holiday was spent preping for music exams.

My canada teacher when she came back end of nov asked me what i had been doing, when I said practice the piano and listen to music to my surprise she shook her head and said, go do something else, go read and go have fun. this was the 1st time she ever told me this, she said that I deserved a good break after all the hard work. Well...i took her advice and have been enjoying her holiday.
Yesterday when I met her she asked me the same question again and of course I told her that I had been having fun and even admitted that I had barely practiced. I told her that my dad had even told me to stop staying home and she started laughing. Right away I said that when school started I would make sure that I worked hard again and she said she knew that I could be trusted. Now i'm switching my current piano teacher(went for my last lesson on the 1st week of jan and let her know i was cutting it off today) for a good reason...so...i'm alot more worried about that

Practice has never been a problem for me, when I stop regular practice I do forget sometimes but it can be made up for
