new teacher & 2 piano competitions
on: January 15, 2009, 01:44:44 PM
well...i've found a new teacher. She was reccomended by my teacher who taught me in canada. My canada teacher came back this christmas hol to visit her family and helped me with my music history 5 and piano a little...gave me plenty of advice too
The teacher whom she reccomended has replied saying that she will teach me and she mentioned that my teacher told her about me too! so it helped alot. i'll be meeting her and starting lessons soon with her
As for competitions, there are 2 coming up that will be held at my school.
For the concerto competition, i was initially going to give up on it especially when I stopped private lessons but today my school teacher will going through what we will be doing for my school sem 2 exam and he suddenly asked me if I had a concerto. I played a couple of bars for him, and he asked me to think about it and find a partner to accompany me. I managed to find someone right away, who is a member of this forums and my senior at school
So i will be performing the 1st mvt of Mozart Piano Concerto no.26 and if i get to the finals, the whole concerto.
My school teacher mentioned another competition too, which my senior also told me about beforhand.
so:
1st round
-J.S Bach Prelude&Fugue no.9 in E major from bk1(played it for my RCM grade 10 exam& an audition 2& a half yrs ago)
-Chopin Etude in c sharp minor op.25 no.7 (same, ive learnt it before, just neve finished it)
2nd round
-Mozart Sonata in a minor 1st mvt K.310
-Chopin Impromptu in A flat major
I'm very excited !!!

Thanks Gerry!
I've made a little change. I'll be playing Mendelssohn's Andante&Rondo Cappriccioso instead of CHopin's Impormptu

dear amelia:
that's nice. the mendelssohn is an interesting work, far less played than the chopin, what is a factor that counts to you, i think.
best!
