I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this.  I played a piece twice, I tried to play it pretty similarly but I used two different settings on the Video Recorder (Sony) - it's not mine, I borrowed it.  I've noticed a lot of videos don't allow for much dynamic range but I think I figured out the problem:  It defaults to the "normal" mic level, which actually levels out the sound - soft sounds sound louder.  Maybe everyone knows this.  But it really helped for me

Normal setting (not good for us musicians!!):

Low setting (yup, Low is better for dynamics - it says on the Sony Camcorder screen that it records the sounds as it is without trying to keep the sound in a certain range):

Hopefully this works.  The piece recorded is:
Summer's Dream by Catherine Rollins

Hope this helps out a lot of folks.  This is a HUGE discovery (for me... I'm simple).
Just wanted to share...

I forgot to mention.  I wear a HAT for the Sony Mic level NORMAL (the not good setting, but unfortunately the default setting - and the vid recorder defaults back to this the next day - sad).  I don't wear a hat for the Mic level LOW (the better setting for dynamics)

So hopefully you prefer the version without the HAT... Let me know

I'm not sure what your purpose is, or what exactly you are asking.  Are you planning to buy a camcorder yourself?  You're right, the low setting is better.  The piano overwhelms with the normal setting.  I enjoyed your playing.
