stopping while playing
on: January 31, 2009, 11:00:58 AM
Hi,
Often i stop playing even that i know what to play. After a second i continu playing. The music is split up in wrong pieces. Are there any tricks to overcome this bad habit.
Thnx Rob

during performances: no, dont stop. if memory lapses occur just continue to play, usually players pick up from the nearest section/measure

during practice: it is recommended that you stop ALOT and think HEAPS of things. but when you run thru pieces, treat it like a performance: dont stop. tds

I'm just playing for myself, but even then it's not nice when you play a piece and stop playing for a second. Sometimes the stop is killing for the piece of music. It disturb the cadance.
