plans for the new year: more competitions, new pieces
on: February 01, 2009, 10:46:48 AM
Hey everyone,

Yes, the title says it all. I've chosen my new pieces...well, almost everything except for the Scarlitti Sonata and i'm starting lessons with my new teacher tomorrow(nervous& not quite ready).

Most of all, plans for more competitions. Of course the concerto competition this tues followed by my solo piano competition next month(might switch a couple of pieces...depending). And 2 more competitions for the year: The Young Pianist 2009 in June(my last chance before I grow too old) and the National Piano& Violin Competition 2009 in Dec.

for the young pianist competition I will be playing Partita in G by J.S Bach (Preludium& Allamande), one of the pieces from the list+ a contrasting piece(still yet to select)

for the nationals, i will be preping 3 pieces between(Baroque, Classical, Romantic& 20th C-Modern) as well as Ravel Concerto in G!!!Yippie! I admit that i've never loved that concerto before, in fact it used to make me feel sick and want to throw up. Whenever my piano buddy suggested it I would just say that I did'nt like it and it was too noisy....etc. for my taste but I guess he never forgot about it, would still try prodding me by occasionaly turning on a recording of it...or playing bits of it(since he learnt it for a competition 2 years ago). He has insisted that it is the perfect concerto for me to play. So i'm learning it! I do appreciate it more now though

You must all wish me the best! I'm sure you all will though

thanks so much! :)

I have decided not to learn the Ravel Concerto this year, i'm not ready for it at all. I haven't even absorbed Ravel's musical style yet. When i talked to my piano buddy today he said he just meant that I should listen to it. Yes he wants me to learn it but he agrees that I need more time so somewhere down the road I will, maybe next year.
I listed him the piano concertos and this is what he picked out for me:

Beethoven 3rd( i knew it)
Grieg( he knows that I don't like it, at all)

maybe Schumann ( haha...i guessed that he would say yes)

and
possibly Chopin 2( this one is kind of a give or take, if I suceed in learning it well, I could do very well with it however if I don't.....)

im looking at Schumann & possibly Chopin 2 haha...these are my 2 favourites out of that list
