Concert of interest - Thalberg!
on: February 08, 2009, 07:02:27 PM
I just received an email notification of a concert that may be of interest to some here - it's at St Mary's church, Perivale (that's in west London), on this coming Wednesay, 11 Feb, 7.30pm. Natalia Strelchenko will play Ravel 'Gaspard de la Nuit', Thalberg Fantasia on 'God Save the Queen', Scriabin 24 Preludes, Liszt 'Dante' Sonata. More details at

https://www.st-marys-perivale.org.uk/events03.htm

I've no direct connection with the venue, I just attended a couple of events there a while back and as a result am on their mailing list.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

The lady obviously has good taste and a great technique as well.

The Thalberg has been recorded, but i doubt if it has been played in concert many times. It is a little repetative and relies on increasing elaboration, but its humour should contrast nicely with the more serious side of said recital.

Sounds like a wonderful concert!  Unfortunately I do not have the funds to cross the Atlantic at the moment.

Sounds like a pretty hefty concert what with the 24 Scriabin preludes.
