I say Sir, an extremely fine performance that I enjoyed immensely.
I used to "almost" have this in my own repetoire, so i know it is a testing piece.
Perhaps just a final polish to be added and maybe just a tadge more "fury" near the end, but you don't need a dweeb like me to tell you that.
I hope you play some more Tausig transcriptions

Thanks, Sir thal! Glad you enjoyed it. Good to hear you also played this nice piece. As you say, it definitely needs some more polishing (and yes, as much fury as possible towards the end...). There are some other great Tausig transcriptions, but in the near future this will have to be the only one for me. But I have some Thalberg and other nice transcriptions coming up instead.

Hi pianovirus
the more I listen to this piece the more I get how freaking tricky it is to play. You really do a good job, I am looking forward to more house concerts

Good job, and nice choice of repertoire. You get the mood, and the change in the middle section, across well.
Of course this is a tough piece, with lots of hidden difficulties lying in wait (eg the pesky acciaccaturas). I get the impression you're finding it quite tiring, and I'd like to make a suggestion regarding the octaves (my observation comes with reservations, because I'm certainly not a teacher). It seems to me that your right hand moves around more than it needs to, thus increasing fatigue and stress. In particular, in the Db major scales, the movement in and out of the keys from black to white and vice versa appears larger than necessary. Possibly your fingers also could remain nearer the keyboard throughout the process (less vertical hand movement). It's of course hard to judge from a youtube video, but I think your octaves need a little more economy of movement, and that would have knock-on benefits re fatigue.

ronde, good advice. Thank you! I fully agree that my hands (especially RH) still move more than they need to (although if you had seen me in the beginning, you could judge that my teacher already tried his best to bring more economy to my playing...). I'll first let the piece rest for a while now, but will work on this when I go back to it.
