how to elevate the bench dramatically for a very young student?
on: February 15, 2009, 03:20:36 AM
I have seen videos of very young students where the bench is elevated with something like a platform--not a cushion, but an adjustable platform. Has anyone seen these, or know what they're called, or know where I can get one? I have a smart four year old student who needs one. Please help
If you don't know what I'm talking about, there is one in this video -- you have to wait until it zooms out at the very end:

You know - I used to work where there was one of these - it's an height adjustable chair. It was *great!* It adjusts *super* fast. For the life of me, I could not find one that was the same, online. I'd also love a source for those.
I've tried a couple of adjustable benches - but, I have my issues with every one I've tried. Of those, I actually love the super cheap looking ones... unless it's the top-of-the-line Jansen. It's about how fast & easy it is to adjust, IMO. I *despise* turning and turning and turning forever with a stiff mechanism. It would be faster to get out a cushion!
*rant over*

I searched for "height adjustable chair piano" and found this
https://www.cpsimports.com/Adjustable_Piano_Chair.html
Is this it? It only moves 5 inches up and down......is it the one in the video I posted above? Opinions please.
EDIT: Aha!! Now I found that little girl's exact chair:

Yes - basically that's it! Maybe, I was looking for the same thing only about 1/2 the price, LOL ... please let me know if you find that!

Hi a-sharp. I may have found what you are looking for--the second piano chair (Fredericks) is on sale on ebay for $139.00 -- considerably less than the $200.00 of the imported chair.

Hi - Thanks!.... shipping is $40 - so it's a little cheaper - still - out of my range I guess, as it falls into the "want" vs. "need" category.
thanks for checking though!

Carpet samples are a good option. Also check out this site. Have a look here:
