Rossini - La Cenerentola

Does anyone know of any good transcriptions/paraphrases from this opera? I'm accompanying a performance of it next week and the director wants a few instrumental bits of cover scene changes. Thanks in advance!

There are a couple, by Herz and Thalberg.

The Herz has been brilliantly recorded by Earl Wild on his "Art of Transcriptions" disc. I cannot remember a recording of the Thalberg version.

The Herz is salon music at its best (or worst) and i think it would outrage any modernists in your audience. It would definately start some serious beard stroking.

I think for novelty value it would go down a treat and i would love to hear you do it.

Any modernists will have been offended right the heck out of the auditorium by the production (think high camp panto) long before we get to the relevant bit of the opera! Many thanks for those two. I'll have a look and play them to the director.

Yes, incredible recording, on a fantastic cd. If it doesn't bring a smile to a listener's face, they've had a sense of humour bypass.
