first Bach selection
on: February 24, 2009, 02:49:53 AM
i haven't played any bach except for a minuet from a learning book. I have a recital coming up and thought it would really nice to play something by him for once. I want something challenging and too overplayed. I am overwhelmed by the vast peices by him so I have no idea what to pick, and i am not familiar at all with him. Something about 3 minutes in length would be good. In the recital I am playing rach prelude 23/5 and liszt waltz no.1
i'm not asian

How about looking at Bach's  Prelude and Fugues-----like C Minor, F Minor, or
G Minor.  These pieces aren't too long and quite nice to play.  Good luck!  = )

go suggests good pieces.

If you haven't played much Bach it will seem tricky.  It's a very different kind of pianistic skill than Rach or Liszt.

You could pick one of the easier movements from the English or French suites.  Have you ventured into the 2 and 3 part inventions?  People usually play some of these first before going into the WTC or other highly contrapuntal works.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
