on: February 26, 2009, 08:57:11 PM
Hey, I don't really know where to ask this but here is go...

I have a problem. My piano seems to be playing the notes longer then the time I hold the key in the base. I am not putting it on sustain, but whenever I seem to play a note in the base, it continues to play even though I let the key go. I have a grand, so I can see the stoppers hit they strings to stop the sound, but It doesn't...

Call a piano tuner and he can check out the problem.  Could be something with the action of the hammer.  Sometimes the weather can create problems, also.  Hopefully the problem will get fixed soon for you.

Thanks. It seems, though, that  the felt on the hammer is not fully stopping the string from vibrating. The stopper hits the strings to stop it, but it the string still rings for a few sec. afterward...

Maybe some damper regulation issue.  Call a tech.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
