ravel suggestions
on: March 10, 2009, 02:32:25 AM
I'm applying to grad schools next year and am trying to decide between jeux d'eau and the sonatine. my teacher recommended these two and i am wondering if anyone can tell me more about them (appropriate for auditions, which is technically harder, expressively harder, and even appropriate for a senior recital)
thanks for any help you have!

mmmmmmmmmmmmm both pieces offer challenges
Sonatine----lots of tone color changes and voicings in each hand
Jeux d'eau----lots of tone color changes and passage work, some double note work too
It depends on the you have for each--I thing the sonatine will learn and be more ready than the other.
Best of luck to you-----have you looked at the Faure Nocturnes?
beautiful pieces
