I am curious how many people in the world (

) have ever had the opportunity to truly dedicate themselves almost solely to piano, without distraction (if they wanted) for years ? If that's you, I would like to know. Or, if you know about artists whom have had this kind of life, I would like to know that, too.
I am under the impression that people who were raised in the Moscow Conservatory, for example (like Rachmaninov ? -- though, I think he was actually living at his teacher's house for a few years, yes ?), had this kind of time. But, I don't really know.
So, I mean time without worrying about making a living, without having to study subjects outside of music, without kids, without all of that stuff. Just them, their teacher/lessons, their music, their piano, no other "obligations" ...
*dreams and drools while dreaming*
If that's not something you have done, I am curious if you would even want that should you be given the opportunity ?
Thanks
