Volodos/Glinka- ruslan and ludmilla
on: March 17, 2009, 02:25:40 AM
Well, all i can say is my piano is HORRIBLE, alright. I am surprised I made it this far on a piano like this, I took this in one take and didn't feel like trying another.

other than that i am pretty proud of myself, this was very tough for me.

Hi lau,

I'm not familiar with the piece, but can tell you put much work into it and now have it in your fingers.  My guess is that you play it quite well.  Congratulations on bringing the piece so far.

But that piano...!  ::)  Obviously it's a poor instrument.  Still though, if you could at least have it tuned before doing recordings, it might be a little easier to hear and judge your renditions.  Are you studying piano right now at a music school or privately?  If the former, oftentimes students take their portable recorder, and play on one of the better grands there after hours.  Might that be a possibility for you?  A pianist is always best inspired when he or she can play an instrument of very good quality.  I sympathize with you.
Interpreting music means exploring the promise of the potential of possibilities.

i don't really have access to a piano of exquistite wonders right now, i just take private lessons.

I have been wondering, does anybody know where this theme came from?? Whenever I search for ruslan and ludmilla i only get orchestras playing  something called the ruslan and lyudmila overture that's like 5 1/2 minutes, and it can't be from that.

Why can't that be where it's from? That's actually exactly where it's from (thought maybe not the overture, but the rest of the opera. I haven't checked).
