on: March 31, 2009, 11:20:20 AM
Can you please suggest me what can I play by these composers, that is really percussive (something similar to Allegro Barbaro by Bartok, and Toccata by Khacaturian)
I really appreciate your suggestions.I really need help to choose something I would really like. Thanks :)

EDIT:You can also suggest some other composers who are stylistically similar to the type of music I like.

I can't really recommend anything for Prokofiev.  For Bartok a lot of the work in Mikrokosmos (6 books of developing difficulty) are very percussive, in particular the last six; 6 pieces in Bulgarian Rhythm I think they are called seperated, and very intersting Rhythms too.  The only one I've played is 153* which is in 3+3+2/8.

Also the 6 Romanian Dances are a mix of the melodic and percussive, all very short and fun.

For Prokofiev I would suggest the 3rd sonata. For Bartók I would choose the Out of Doors Suite.

maybe the prokofiev toccata but it's extremely difficult.
