Any Chopin suggestion?
on: April 04, 2009, 11:54:35 PM
Hi folks,

I've been playing long time now, and I wanted to (especially) try
a challenging Chopin piece that I could play....after playing safe on Chopin all these years...(meaning no diff. pieces of him) :-\ ???

I play at grade 7/8...so have you got any suggestions??
All are welcome!

Kind Regards,
Lizz :)

Maybe try a Nocturne from op. 27? Both of them are quite nice.
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

any of the waltzes from Op. 34

particularly no. 2 or 3

or

one of the Op. 62 nocturnes, which are not too hard if you can play "grade 8", but they are difficult to interpret. Many lesser pianists have failed to understand these nocturnes unfortunately, and I know many people that don't like them simply because they've heard inadequate recordings!

When they're intepreted "properly" though, so-to-say, they are wonderful. :)

Well you could try the Prelude in Ab Major, i'm not sure what grade it is as I've not played it but it's a beautiful piece i think it's Op. 28 No. 17 or maybe 19 i'm not quite sure. Also the Etude Op 10 No. 9 is great, I started that myself recently. Its not extremely difficult but i'd say its challenging (:
