Seeking recommendation for audio recorder
on: April 15, 2009, 09:18:10 PM
Can anyone recommend a simple, inexpensive digital recorder, preferably with an external microphone and no moving parts, to record my practice sessions?  I'm only going to use it to listen to myself, so I don't need professional equipment, but to capture dynamics it must be better than the average voice recorder.

Edirol R09 or the Samsung Zoom H2 or H4.  I keep hearing about those.  About $300-400.  Not professional but not garbage.  Both have pros and cons but either one would probably do it.  I think there are some ideas on here.  Otherwise search for reviews.  They don't have external mics, but without moving parts, there's no rumble of the machine.  (except for hardware noise).  I think you can connected external mics to both if you want, but only professional mics to the Samsung one.
