Schumann?

Please recommend a beautiful work by Schumann for solo piano... Besides Op. 17, Waldszenen, or
Kinderszenen.

I'm quite confident I can play anything, so list away.

Hi Anne!! I am a great fan of Schumann!!!
I do think schumann is somewhat underrated...as some of his great works are neglected and forgotten by many people...
here are some of schuamnn's greatest pieces...
Grand piano sonata no. 2  op. 22
Abbeg Variation op. 1
Fantasie in C op. 17
Carnival
Kresleriana
Fantasiestucke op. 12
Toccata in C op. 7
Symphonic Etude op. 13
Arabeske op. 17
Faschingsschwank Aus Wien Op. 26

If you ask me which single one i would recommend...if you are an advanced player, I would recommend you to play Carnival.

Hope that you will enjoy playing them =]
I am currently playing his piano sonata no. 2, Fantasie in C and Faschingsschwank Aus Wien

are any of those particularly easy..?
Playing Piano is the easiest thing in the world, All you have to do is have the right finger on the right key at the right moment.

Kreisleriana is the best work he ever composed IMO

My teacher's favorite. But for some reason, I haven't as much enthusiasm for it as I do for Carnival and Davidsbundlertanze. While I admire it deeply, and it is extraordinary in many ways, I've never connected to it on an emotional level like I have with the other two.

the second intermezzo in the second piece is one of the best passages I've ever heard.

Would it be OK if I gave you just a few days to think of all the reasons why you appear to deprecate Schumann and then express them in detail here?

Best,

Try the Humoresque.  I think it was Schumann's own favorite, is very beautiful (and difficult) and not played all that much.
