on: May 25, 2009, 03:10:04 PM
I've been working on organ rep lately.

from Messiaen's La Nativité du Seigneur.

jOrgan 3.6.1
Cavaillé-Coll 1.6

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Hi quantum,

I think that sometimes a piece of Messaien is an acquired taste, and at other times, not.  This one might take awhile to grow on me.  I think you play it very well, including those incredible tone clusters.  The big coda is extraordinary in terms of both composition and performance.  Good job!
Interpreting music means exploring the promise of the potential of possibilities.

Thanks Rachfan.

That coda is something isn't it?   Very effective, specially when you consider the religious inspiration behind the piece.  How Messiaen included such a piece in a cycle essentially made up of Christmas themes.
