Don't worry.  I'm sure that's not going to be the last piano you own in this lifetime.  I remember years ago, when I prepared for my diploma, I had a piano like yours.  It was so light touched in the treble, and heavy sounding in the base, at times I thought I was playing a saloon piano.  But when I went for my diploma, I had a beautiful STeinway concert grand, and as I was playing, I marveled at how it seemed to react to every little dynamic impulse I gave it.  And I think it's precisely because I had been used to a piano where I had to exaggerate all the colors and dynamics to get them to come out!

Does it harm your practice?  Yes.  How?  Because you are actually practicing compensation; you practice compensating for the differences of each key.  Well-regulated pianos would not require such practice.  Call your piano technician and have him regulate it.

Have your piano regulated by a technician. Generally 500-700 dollars, give or take a few. A good tech can bring it back to specs if done right.
A piano deperately in need of regulating can definately affect your practice for the reasons posted above. You should not have to compensate.
