Clothes on a recital!
on: June 06, 2009, 06:27:40 PM
Hello Female Pianists! i know this is not a very serious topic, but im just curious and want some piece of advice
In a pair of weeks im performing Mozart Piano Concerto No. 21, and this is my first performing not being a soloist.
I want to know what do you wear in your recitals. What do you feel more comfortable with, etc.
Any suggestions? experiences?
thanks you!
Paix!

Rule: Never look more stunning than you can actually play.  If you play spectacularly, then wear something spectacular.  If you play with mediocrity, wear something mediocre.

If that's the case, I should turn up recitals in a sack with arm holes ;D

Seriously, my impression is that concerto soloists tend to dress a bit better than at a solo recital. Probably a dress (but only one that you're comfortable in!) would be appropriate. At least that's what I've seen.
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

Always look nice.  They don't know how much you suck until you play the first note. :)

And actually try playing in the clothes you'll perform in.  Different clothes feel weird sometimes.
