Piano Concertos with movements together
on: June 13, 2009, 01:17:54 AM
Hello

Why don't we make a list about the piano concertos which have all movements together?

I mean with out rests.

Examples:

Liszt´s number 2
Mendelssohn´s number 2

ETC

Thanks
Thanks
The masterpiece tell the performer what to do, and not the performer telling the piece what it should be like, or the cocomposer what he ought to have composed.

Don't know if Mendelssohns No 2 can be considered. There is a clear break from Movements 2 to 3.

What about Liszt's No. 1??? as well as No. 2

One question. What is the purpose of this list? A piano concerto can't be judged on the number of it's movements, or whether or not they're played attacca.

Sounds like someone has an assignment in piano repertory class, and doesn't want to listen to a bunch of concerti themselves!

There's Ravel's Concerto for the Left Hand (a great work, no matter how many hands you have  ;) ).
...and she disappeared from view while playing the Agatha Christie Fugue...

I am surprised to see no one has said Rachmaninoff's third piano concerto in D-minor. Also Mendelssohn's first piano concerto.

Erm.... there is a clear break between Movements 1 & 2... so I wasn't sure if that could be considered.

Also... I'm still wondering why Presto asked the question... I hope we're not giving him answers to some assignment that he's supposed to be doing...

Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto.

The movements aren't together in that work.

Nooo... you misunderstand....

Weissenberg suggested Rach 3...
I replied saying there was a clear break between them...
Weissenberg asked what I was referring to...
and then I replied back that I was referring to Rachmaninoff's 3rd when I said there was a clear break between the movements.

I probably should have quoted it or something.
