Teachers at Brevard Music Center?
on: June 14, 2009, 05:42:32 PM
Hey everyone,

I will be attending Brevard Music Center this summer and need to make some decisions about submitting the teacher preference form.  I've been asking teachers I have studied with for advice, and also looking at the bios of all the faculty to see which teachers appear to have the most substantial connections to schools I might wish to consider for graduate work and so forth, but for the most part, I have no way of knowing about each faculty member's teaching.  Does anyone know about these teachers or have any suggestions on how to make this decision in a situation like this?  The faculty options are:

Norman Krieger - University of Southern California

Donna Lee - Kent State University

Craig Nies - Vanderbilt University

Elisabeth Pridonoff - Cincinnati College-Conservatory

Sandra Wright Shen

Reiko Uchida - Columbia University

Douglas Weeks - Converse College

I'm certain that I can learn a lot at Brevard this summer, regardless of who I take private piano from, but it would be nice to hear some thoughts and opinions about this before I submit the teacher preference form within the next day.
It's GREAT to be a classical musician!

i have not studied with Donna  Lee personally, but attended Kent State as a classical guitarist, and so met many students who raved about Donna Lees' teaching and playing. She seems to be a very nice woman, a very dedicated teacher, and an excellent performer.
