New Repertoire
on: June 20, 2009, 04:18:32 PM
Hi, I have just finished lessons with my current piano teacher before move on to a new teacher in about 2 months.  I now have to choose what to play between now and then, I am looking for some good pieces set at about grade 6 or 7, I dont mind which composer.

All contributions appreciated.

Thanks.

The Beethoven's Sonata 10/1  may be tough at the moment, so put it on hold for now.
Have you begun any of Bach WTC Books 1?
I suggest, from book 1,  Prelude and Fugue in C Major,  or Prelude  and Fugue in C Minor.

How about a Chopin's Waltz in A Minor opus post. ?  It's a wonderful piece to learn.
Have you tried any Chopin's Preludes?

Another Beethoven Sonata you can try is opus 49 no. 2, opus 44 no. 1, opus 14 no. 2.
Just take a look at the scores of these Sonatas to check out if any would be compatible with your technique and level.

best wishes,

You can also try Chopin's waltz in b minor, Op. 69 No. 2, or the adieu waltz in A-flat, Op. 69 No. 1. They are both very lovely and quite pleasant to play.
