Not sure how to play this section
on: June 24, 2009, 07:39:39 AM
Hi guys, I've been trying to teach myself piano for about a year now, with the help of YouTube and Google :)  So, I have a quick question, I'm not sure how to play the section in this piano score (https://vod3.gangqinpu.com/pu/2008/20081/200812/20081211451333969.gif).  It's measure #24~25, and it looks like squiggly lines.  I've searched and the only thing that comes to my mind is a trill.  The only thing I know about a trill is that you alternate between two keys =p.  Can anyone help? Thanks!

It does look like a trill... however I think it's supposed to be a short glissando.... I think.

I've never seen a glissando written like that, however which is weird and I doubt it's a trill or the thing would be horizontal - not on an angle...

However, I don't know the work and it could be a piece of articulation I've never encountered.

By the way - what is the piece called?

As I look at the particular measures indicated in the post,  I thought of the glissando also, but how so, I mean there is an octave  leap and how it is written, it's just not feasible to do a glissando there.....interesting....humm..

best wishes,

Are you sure??? You could play the Octave D in the LH and drag the thumb up to the upper C, lift off quickly and then play the chord at the beginning of Bar 25.

Also... is this piece of music based on a midi file or something... some of the notation looks really, cheesy and meticulously exact.

I agree, that's how I would play it.

Thanks, I'll look up on glissando and try the suggested method of playing it.  The piece is called "不想懂得 Don't Want to Understand".  I got it from here (https://www.gangqinpu.com/html/4682.htm), it is probably most likely based on a MIDI file because there is a small player on the site to play the MIDI file.

I would do that as well.
