Which one? Please help
on: July 01, 2009, 03:15:21 PM
I need to perform a piece on my piano, but I don't know which one. I need it to be impressive and sound good, but at the same time not showy offy if you get what I mean. So I'm not doing too harder pieces. Out of the following which one would be best to show off my skills:
Claire de lune by Debussy
(First movement) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven
Nocture Op.9 No.2 by Chopin
The Entertainer
Prelude Op. 28 No.6 by Chopin
Fantasy Prelude Op.3 No.2 by Rachmaninoff
I Giorni by Ludivico Einaudi (I think that's how you spell it)
or Le Onde by him also
or if you know a good one I could learn, please let me know thank you  ;D

Claire de lune by Debussy

I would personally choose that since it has a lot of depth and feeling... that is if you can play it to a VERY high level... if you have a good Piano teacher, then it shouldn't be a problem.

Why are you asking us what you should learn? And why do you want it to sound impressive but not showy? Isn't the purpose of performance to share musical ideas and, possibly, educate? If that is the case, then what does it matter if its showy or if its simple?  I think you're playing for the wrong reasons.
