What's that Bach piece?
on: July 06, 2009, 06:35:48 AM
My girlfriend is playing this piece for her grade 2 piano exams this year and we can't find any information about it anywhere on the internet. It is a minuet in G major marked Allegretto, by J.S. Bach but I don't know what BWV it is. I have attached a .pdf with the first 8 bars of the piece and a midi file with the first 8 bars also (though for some reason the sound was transposed down an octave in the midi).
If anyone has any idea of what the piece is, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks heaps,
Sean

I wouldn't worry about it. Grade Two won't examine in such depth on such minor works. I daresay just knowing who Bach is should be sufficient :P. That said, it sounds like somethiing out of Anna Magdalena's Notebook. Hope that helps.

Is it RCM Grade 2? Because if it is, it might be this one. It is straight from the RCM Syllabus (Sorry, I suck at working with computers)

It says:

-Suite in g minor, BWV 822
^VII: Minuet III in G major
Bach: Toccata BWV 914
Beethoven: Sonata op. 57
Liszt: HR 12
Rachmaninoff: Prelude op. 32 no. 12
Prokofiev: Suggestion Diabolique
Liszt: La Campanella
Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto no. 2, op. 18
