Durand
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Definitely Henle over Durand - there's little to choose in accuracy but Henle is cheaper and printed on standard-size paper - better-quality paper, too. Durand, in my opinion, are taking the mick charging high prices for editions that are out of copyright. The only thing I quite like about them is the distinctive typography, but that's not enough to persuade me to part with the extra money! Henle prints informative notes in the scores, too.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

I've seen some new Durand publications that are less expensive than Henle.  For example the Preludes in Henle are divided into two volumes.  Costs around $20-25 each volume Canadian.  Durand has a shiny blue cover edition that includes both books of Preludes for about $30.

I do agree with you on Durand pricing in general - way to expensive.  Often times I will purchase one edition to learn from then borrow the Durand from the library to reference.  On a tangent...I wish some other publisher would pick up Messiean's works.  Shelling out $100 for the Durand Vingt Regards is a bit much.

Peters is the other option - they've just brought out a new edition edited by Roy Howat.
I also think Durand are bums - I needed the 2 piano version of La Valse and got an exact reprint from Dover in half the price!
Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.
