looking for a set of music
on: July 26, 2009, 08:16:58 PM
On here.  In the PS score section.  Just looking for ideas.

I know the general description of what I'm looking for, but not the exact piece or composer.

Some easy or medium level.

Something like a set of etudes, waltzes, or mazurkas.

Probably something a little more obscure.  I already have Chopin etudes, mazurkas, Brahms waltzes, Field nocturnes, Scriabin mazurkas, etc.  I'm looking for a few sets of pieces like that, just not that.

And looking at the next thread, something Russian would be interesting.

I don't know what I've got for Prokofiev already though...   Maybe there's a set of Rachmaninoff etudes on here?

Szymanowski wrote several mazurkas, etudes and preludes, among other piano works.

Are they available on here though?  That's what I'm looking for.

Well, I don't see much available here, but a great source of PD scores from across the globe can be obtained freely at
 https://imslp.org/wiki/Main_Page

You can search on various parameters, and I'm constantly astounded by the variety of what I find there. It is a joint project, and sometimes you may find a composer/work that has not yet become Public Domain, and you may have to try again in the future, but try the site. Most works are in pdf format and piano works are generally legible enough to play.
