Are there any major composers with that background?

There are quite a few very good Ukrainian composers. Nikolai (Mykola) Roslavets and Nikolai Kapustin are two. I don't know about the other nationalities.

Rusyn

Eh?

Ukrainian - Viktor Kosenko, 19th century. Decent stuff, on the basis of one CD I mastered for someone a while ago.

Lyatoshynsky was Ukrainian and he was very good.  Here is a list of most of them https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ukrainian_composers

I have a lot of scores to his piano music, but no recordings. Are there any recordings of his piano music around?

There really weren't any hugely well-known composers from those areas.  That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to make sure.

Not a knock on the music.  I like some of the music I've heard from that area.

YouTube. I think you can get some recordings of his music on Amazon and Arkivmusic.

Have you listened to any of his pieces? and if you have, which pieces have you listened to?
