Am I behind?
on: August 11, 2009, 08:07:52 PM
I am wondering if I am not to the level I should be.

I am 12 and I am working on Bach sinfonia in F minor, Mozart sonata K.332, Brahms ballade in D minor, Chopin mazurka op.33 no.2 in D major and Schubert sonata D.784. Is this behind where I should be?

There really aren't set places to be.

That sounds pretty good to me.  Above where I was at I think.

Behind based on what norm? What would you consider were you're supposed to be for your age? Besides, what matters is the final result of all your piano practice. Not were you are at a certain point at your life.

Are you enjoying playing the piano?  Are you enjoying learning these pieces?  Do see music as being a major portion of your life?

I think these are much more important questions to be pondering.

If you are considering taking up music in university, your are well on your way.  But don't try to make progress everything about doing X by age Y.  Challenge yourself instead of trying to conform to what others have done.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
