Practicing scales?
on: September 03, 2009, 05:23:25 PM
Hey! I've been playing the piano for a couple of years now, but i have been set back by not having many proper lessons due to financial reasons.

I'd like to know if anyone has a good website, or even just tips on how to practice scales? For example i can never 'figure out' the fingering that well.

Thank you :)

P.S: Once again i'm pretty new here, so i apologize if this post is impertinent or in the wrong place :)

Have a look at this threads, mostly Berhnard posts, some say the same things in different words but it'll work to understand the princiiples of fingerings (which is pretty simple, and until i read this, like you I had no idea what finger goes where), motions for playing scales fast and the purpose of scales and their function in practice:

Also Chang's book:

Hope that helps.
