Would 'Moonlight' Sonata by Beethoven work?
on: September 07, 2009, 12:43:51 AM
I am looking forward to a talent show. the thing is: I don't know what I should play? Should I play moonlight sonata? Or is there something else that would seem better?

That probably depends on the setting and the type of contest.  How much time do you have to fill?

moonlight sonata isnt exactly a hard piece for the average talented pianoplayer. But if you didnt realize that already, maybe you shouldnt be competing with 'talents' in the first place.

I have five to six minutes to fill.

It's a school talent show. Along with that, I don't want to play the hardest piece in my repitoire, then mess up horribly.

Then how about a chopin nocturne? Requires some more skill and not that cliche.
