Also, try the 3 posthumous etudes dedicated to Moscheles - they're probably the easiest ones.

i voted for 10/6, 25/1 and 25/2. Theyre in general the easiest in your list, although it ofcourse also depends on the person. I myself found for example 10/1,9,11 and 25/10 pretty easy because of my big 'claws', while they can be pretty hard for people with small hands.
Took me LONG though to get 10/2 on speed and to be able to give it that 'comedy feeling'.

I find that none of the Etudes are *easy*....gosh!  I'm working on 10/1
and it's hard, but not as hard as 25/8, because I'm good at argeggios.
Although I haven't had the opportunity to learn all of the Etudes,
so just give me a lifetime to learn the rest
and then I'll let you know which three are the easiest.   ;)

best wishes,

10/1 's difficulty is overated

You can really call op.25 no.1 easy if you have certain skills

my choice: 10/5  25/1 25/2

Thanks for your vote ^^
Probably Op. 10 no 3 is the easiest, so i left it out...
Op. 10 no 1 is difficult, i think...

Granted I have not played any of them, I chose op.25 no.10, the only difficulty is octaves and they don't look too hard.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Op. 25 No. 5? In my opinion it's the easiest. There's not much technical stuff in it.

Its the only etude i never mastered, mainly because i never bothered practising it. I dont really know why, maybe because only the middle part is nice :)

I'm surprised op.10 no.6 hasn't been mentioned yet. As somebody said earlier, it depends on your technique. For example: I've played op.10 no.2 but at my current stage of technique it's still much more difficult for me than op.25 no.6 because I'm better at thirds than I am at flexibility and back finger strength.

Lmao Op 25 #12 is the easiest for you?

I voted for 10/6, 10/9 and 25/1

I've only played 10/5 and 10/9 before, but I just kinda went with the flow from what I've been reading on the forums the past few years.

I lol'd at some of the etudes that some ppl voted as the EASIEST... they must have gotten them confused with most difficult.

Easy/hard is relative to the person. I myself found 25/12 pretty easy too since its pretty straightforward.

Lol, not the octave one necessarily.  It's not usually referred to as the toughest etude, but there are some that seem FAR easier than that one.

I was mostly in awe at the Op 25#12 and the Op 10#4

Cant really agree here, its not more difficult than the other etudes, musically. The only point of attention of this etude is the pedalling and the legato's, but thats pretty much all.

Granted I have not played it (or any of them), it seems like it would be very easy to make dry and mechanical. Not all of them are hard musically, op.25 no.6 does not seem like it would pose a musical challenge.

There's more to it than just playing thirds though :P

Maybe Op 10#3 has more musical challenges, but the amount of technique that has to back up whatever musicality you bring to Op 25 #6 probably trumps that five times over.

25 -1 is easy to learn, difficult to master. Far to many people miss the inner voicing and thus destroy the work. I would not say 10-3 is the easiest, in fact i would argue it is one of the hardest, as Chopin's own connection and emotion in this piece must be shown, and simply put, most pianists lack the musicality to really move an audience with this work. Also to play this etude as written (no pedal in main melodic line) is actually very difficult, combined with the very soft and gentle touch needed to voice 3 voices, at 3 different dynamics is no easy feat either.

I also disagree that 10-1 is easy. Horowitz refused to perform it in public due to its difficulty, and he mentioned in numerous interviews that he considered it the hardest of all the etudes. Ashkenazy is also documented as saying he never once gave a perfect performance of this etude.

I believe 10-9 is the easiest. 4 pages (2 of which repeat the other 2), a LH that never changes, a RH that's only change is using octaves not single notes. A very simple RH and very easy LH once the notes are learnt.

There is still op 25 no 2 and no 9.

for no 2, you obviously need very fast fingers and the only difficulty, I think, is the cross rythms. I saw a 6 year old girl play this etude in youtube.

No 9 should be easy enough. basically I think it is an etude for a floppy wrist while playing chords.

Op 10 no 9 is not that hard but you really must have a really agile and flexible left had to play that one. what's more, there are occasionally fast octaves and cross rhythms. So therefore it is not the easiest etude.
