Can I get some help here?
on: September 13, 2009, 09:07:15 PM
Hi. I've been playing the piano for a year or so now. Before I even started, I played the Clarinet for 8 years. So I knew how to read the treble clef even before starting.

Then I picked up the piano, and got slapped in the face witht he bass clef. Now I have a keyboard, but will eventually get an upright, maybe sometime soon. But because I have a keyboard, I learned to play a couple songs but only because I put them on my piano and remembered what keys to play. I cant really read the bass clef, so I was wondering if I could get some tips for learning?

Also, if I could get any peice suggestions, that would be great. Peices that a person SHOULD be able to play after a year of piano.

Thanks,
Okerokeka.

It's very easy to read it, actually. The fifth line is where you place a F. It means that if you're looking at the line (second from the bottom) where you'd "normally" place a G, it's actually a B. The floating (I forgot the right word in English) line between the two staffs is C. That's for the F staff (bass). For the G staff, you read it just like you did before.

                                                      ---C---
--------------------------------A----------------------------
----------------------------F--------------------------------
------------------------D-----------------------------------
--------------------B---------------------------------------
-----------------G--------------------------------------

Hope it helps.
